B.A.P. Barbecue

July 9th, 2010  / Author: bapadmin

Hello Accounting Students,

Hopefully you are all having a productive summer.

Your Beta Alpha Psi Leadership has been productive this summer. Currently we are gearing up for our upcoming networking and informational barbecue on Thursday, July 15 . The barbecue will not only be a chance to get a free meal on a sunny summer day. We will be providing insight and information into B.A.P. and how big a part of the University of Washington Bothell campus  and the accounting program we have become. Here are some questions you might get answered at this event,

  • What is B.A.P.
  • What does it mean to be a candidate or member of B.A.P.?
  • What do I have to do?
  • How might this help my career?
  • How do I get information on the accounting firms and their 2010 fall recruiting?
  • What firms are coming to the professional meetings this year?
  • What B.A.P. leadership position can I apply for to make sure I get the most out of the B.A.P experience?
  • How do I apply?
  • What can I expect to learn at the August 12th Info Session? (Yes, we are planning another info session.)

Food and drink will be provided and we will be talking about accounting, B.A.P. and you.

Come join us at Blythe Park in Bothell for some food, info, camaraderie and maybe a rousing game of croquet.

6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

FREE to all UWB accounting majors

Announcements

April 12th, 2010  / Author: bapadmin

Two brief announcements:

1) For Juniors: Reminder that we’re having an orientation session for new
accounting students (those taking BBUS 361 and/or BBUS 373 this quarter) this
Friday at 10:00am in UW2-005. Come meet your professors, learn about Beta
Alpha Psi, hear a brief overview of the accounting recruiting process, and
get answers to any questions you may have about our accounting program.

2) See below for some great news about our team that presented at the Beta
Alpha Psi Regional Conference in Spokane over the weekend. Our team
consisted of Nathan Al-Huwail, Alex Olson, Andrew Lowe and Vladimir
Kolpatchev. Mariya Beynenson assisted with the powerpoint presentation.

Thank you, Ron Tilden

Hi all,

UW Bothell sent 7 officers to attend the BAP Regional Conference in Spokane
this weekend. There are three best practices competitions. UW Bothell came
in 3rd in the only best practice competition in which it competed: Chapter
Sustainability. Kudos for UW Bothell. Placing in these events is an
accomplishment. A provisional team has never entered, much less placed in a
Best Practice event. There are 16 universities in the Pacific Northwest
Region.

The team practiced very hard for the event, and prepared a great powerpoint
presentation. They were sited for accomplishing so much with their BAP
chapter in such a short time. They were also praised for their
appropriately humorous slides, describing the trials and tribulations of
trying to start a new BAP chapter before the accounting program had even
begun offering classes. The judges offer suggestions after awards are
announced, and were very encouraging to the team. I suspect that next
year’s BAP members will be jazzed about competing in all three events.

If you see these students, you may wish to congratulate them: Nathan
Al-Huwail, Alex Olson, Andrew Lowe, Vladimir Kolpatchev

Incidentally, Sharon Lightner, our regional chapter advocate, noted that it
appears that UWB BAP may achieve the top chapter status this year…Superior
Chapter, and would then be eligible to compete for a Gold Chapter award for
the 2010-2011 year. That is a truly amazing feat.

Of course, Ron Tilden deserves many, many thanks for the hours he put in
with these students. Much of the chapter success this year as well as the
success at the competition, is a result of the encouragement he offered to
them, and the humor with which he dealt with continually new situations.
And, Ron, the vehicles made it back to campus with nary a scratch.

The students say, “UW Bothell BAP Rocks”.
